Demography

Socio-demographic and health microdata have an important value to researchers from a wide spectrum of scientific disciplines. The access to this information requires the signature of agreements, clearance of users and the use of physical secured rooms. The Demography use case in SIESTA provides a set of tools to improve the anonymization of the data to be shared, the creation of designed populations whose data can be shared without privacy concerns and systems to analyse in a reproducible FAIR way the data without the need of a direct access.
The implementation of a pilot Intermediate Data Center can reduce the current situation faced by statistical producers with greater demands by society for information on new issues (such as globalization, welfare indicators beyond GDP, cohabitation, longevity, etc.), greater speed in the dissemination of data, greater disaggregation of data and an increase in quality assurance, in a context of reduction of the resources available for individual National Institutes of Statistics.
