EOSC-SIESTA is beginning its participation in FIDELIS “Support for the Adoption of Solutions”, a training programme designed to help digital repositories improve their trustworthiness through a combination of financial support and expert guidance.
EOSC-SIESTA is delivering Support Offer #2 — Tools for privacy-preserving data release and trustworthy publication, a hands-on training programme that gives repository managers, researchers, and data professionals a practical introduction to the tools and methods that make privacy-preserving data sharing and reliable publication possible.
Across the sessions, participants explore the data privacy tools developed within the EOSC-SIESTA framework, with a special focus on data anonymization, privacy risk assessment, synthetic data generation, and text anonymization. The training shows how these tools can be integrated into data workflows and repository services to meet privacy requirements without sacrificing the utility of the data. It also examines how privacy-preserving techniques relate to the FAIR principles, offering guidance on balancing openness and data protection in real-world scenarios, and demonstrates how to integrate FAIR compliance verification tools into existing workflows. The programme closes with an interactive session in which participants develop their own use case based on the concepts covered.
The training runs from September to October 2026 across five virtual workshops:
- 7 September — Introduction to anonymization: methods and open-source tools
- 21 September — Pseudonymization methods applied to texts
- 28 September — Differential privacy: introduction and synthetic data generation
- 5 October — FAIR principles: evaluation
- 19 October — Wrap-up and sharing experiences
It is delivered by EOSC-SIESTA experts Judith Sáinz-Pardo Díaz and Álvaro López García (IFCA, CSIC-UC), together with Loya Caroldene Haughton and Laura Fernández Robles (University of León), with Helena Lozano (CSIC) and Fernando Aguilar Gómez (IFCA, CSIC-UC) acting as support facilitators.
